As well as requiring teachers to be in-country and interview in-person, schools will often require you to do a demonstration class, also known as a “demo class," before they hire you. This requires you to go into the school and actually teach a class with real students or mock students and be observed by school staff - and it is a big factor in determining whether they will hire you or not. Actually Teach & Observe Classes With Real Students
We'll send you to our partner English schools so you can teach real classes, with real Vietnamese learners, in a wide range of age groups from kindergarten to adult.
Observations: 6 hours observing experienced ESL teachers conducting lessons with Vietnamese students of varying ages and levels in real schools in Vietnam.
Solo Teaching: 6 teaching hours taught by you to real Vietnamese learners in real schools. You will receive feedback on your teaching so that you can improve your teaching throughout the training.

This gives you the opportunity to get to know the market and employers in Vietnam.
After you complete the employer presentations, we’ll prepare you for the hiring process and conduct our 1-on-1 job coaching sessions - unique to the Ninja Teacher program! We’ll spend time chatting with you to determine what you’re looking for in a teaching position, and answer any questions that you might have as you prepare to go into the hiring process.

We're based in the center of Ho Chi Minh City which offers hundreds of nearby accommodation options. Once enrolled, we'll guide you on how to book short term accommodation options for during the program. The cost of accommodation in Ho Chi Minh City is very affordable and there are many short term housing options that you can choose from while completing the 4 weeks, after which you'll find an apartment in an area you like and based on your job location. We’ll provide real estate agent recommendations and resources for finding an apartment, with many options in the $350 - $500 per month range.

Program Schedule
Saturday City Tour & Welcoming Evening
These will happen on the Saturday before classroom sessions begin on the Monday.
Week 1
In week 1, you’ll have a chance to orient yourself to Vietnam and begin thinking about effective teaching practices and your Ninja teaching persona. We'll start considering the context of teaching in Vietnam and Vietnamese learners as well as learning about lesson planning and lesson objectives. Starting Tuesday afternoon, you’ll have 3 teaching observations. You’ll be given a schedule of your teaching observations which are in the evenings and some weekends days.
Week 2
In week 2, you’ll learn more about classroom management as well as how to analyse and teach language (vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation). You'll build confidence through practical activities where you teach newly learned skills to your peers. You’ll also begin assisted lesson planning (ALP) for your solo teaching practices (starting on Friday and over the weekend). You’ll continue to attend teaching observations.
Week 3
Week 3 will focus on the 4 skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. We’ll continue circling back to classroom management as well as looking at different teaching and learning resources. You’ll continue to have ALP for your solo teaching practices (scheduled throughout week 3 and over the weekend.)
Week 4
We’re in the final week! This week, we will mainly focus on having a chance to learn more about teaching jobs in Vietnam with school presentations and mock interviews. You’ll also be wrapping up solo teaching and evaluations and making an action plan for your continuing professional development. By the end of this week you'll be ready to start your first teaching job and we will begin connecting you with schools for placements. Friday will be our graduation with a celebratory dinner in the evening!

Program Requirements
1) A Bachelors degree in any subject is required by the Vietnamese government. The degree can be of any major as long as it is a full bachelors degree from an English speaking university / college.
2) Native English speaker with a passport from either the United States of America, United Kingdom, Canada, Ireland, Australia or New Zealand.
While at Ninja Teacher we believe that anyone can be a good teacher, there is a strong demand for native English speakers in Vietnam which makes it so we cannot ensure placement from those who are not from the above countries. In addition, some of our partner schools where program attendees conduct practical classes only allow native speakers, and this is an essential part of the program.
3) Be fit and healthy, as a basic health screening is required to secure a work permit.
Any pre-existing physical or health conditions should be cleared with our Enrollment Manager.
4) Able to obtain a clean criminal background check from home country (some exceptions may apply).
